Ceramic

MP Series M Series
Standard Input Range
Standard Center Frequency Range:
350 MHz to 3500 MHz

For a filter with a center frequency outside of this range, please contact the factory for a custom design.

Standard Bandwidth Range:
1% to 20% of the center frequency.

For a filter with a passband bandwidth outside of this range, please contact the factory for a custom design.

Maximum Guaranteed Attenuation:
f < 2000 MHz: Max. attenuation 60 dB
f > 2000 MHz: Max. attenuation 50 dB

For greater attenuation requirements, please contact the factory for a custom design. All attenuation stated refer to measurements in a Smiths Interconnect fixture.

Typical Application

Ceramic filters are typically manufactured for high volume. These low cost units are available in open frame non-hermetic packages that are often used in commercial applications. Various mounting configurations are available. High "Q" coaxial resonators are used which yield low insertion loss and excellent stability over temperature. A low ripple Chebychev transfer function is standard with bandpass filters and diplexers available.

Custom designed hermetic packages that are frequently used in military applications are also available. For a quote on hermetic packages please contact the factory.

Discrete

Z Pack MF PC board mount pin through MF SMA connectors MF Surface mount pin lead
Standard Input Range
Standard Center Frequency Range:
1 MHz to 10000 MHz

For a filter with a center frequency outside of this range please contact the factory for a custom design.

Standard Bandwidth Range:
2% to 100% for 1 MHz
  to 5000 MHz center freq.
2% to 20% for 5000 MHz
  to 10000 MHz center freq.

For a filter with a passband bandwidth outside of this range please contact the factory for a custom design.

Maximum Verified Attenuation:

Verification of attenuation specifications can be provided up to 85 dB in the range f < 15000 MHz for non-surface mount packages and up to 65 dB for surface mount packages.

For verification of attenuation requirements outside of this range please contact the factory.

Typical Application

Discrete filters are designed for optimum performance in small miniature packages where space is at a premium. All designs are computer generated, available in connectorized or RF pin configurations and designed to satisfy the most rugged environmental conditions. A low ripple Chebychev design is standard, however, elliptical, Bessel and Gaussian transfer functions are available. Superior performance is achieved through the use of high “Q” components and computer modeling.

For band-reject filters, please contact the factory.

Cavity

Cavity Filter
Standard Input Ranges:
Standard Center Frequency Range:
500 MHz to 20000 MHz

For a filter with a center frequency outside of this range please contact the factory for a custom design.

Standard Bandwidth Range:
0.5% to 50% of the center frequency.

For a filter with a passband bandwidth outside of this range please contact the factory for a custom design.

Maximum Verified Attenuation:

Verification of attenuation specifications can be provided up to 85 dB in the range f < 40000 MHz

For verification of attenuation requirements outside of this range please contact the factory.

Typical Applications:

Cavity filters are best suited when low insertion loss and sharp selectivity are a requirement and space is available to accommodate the larger package size required. Chebychev transfer function is standard and bandpass models are in combline and interdigital construction. All units are supplied in machined silver plated housings for best electrical performance.

For advanced highly selective cavity filters and diplexer configurations please contact the factory.

Waveguide

Waveguide flanges Connectorized Ports (SMA, K or N-Type)
Standard Input Ranges:
Standard Center Frequency Range:
6580 MHz to 39000 MHz

For a filter with a center frequency outside of this range please contact the factory for a custom design.

Standard Bandwidth Range:
0.5% to 10% of the center frequency.

Waveguide filters are used most often at higher frequencies when very low insertion loss is required and also whenever high power handling is an issue. A Chebychev transfer function is standard. Units may be custom designed for high volume commercial applications or low volume high performance military applications.

For band-reject and diplexer configurations please contact the factory.
